John 4

13Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

I think its really cool how God tells the woman that His water will make you full and you will never thirst again. The woman is referring to the well water because Jesus asks for a drink but he then begins to explain to her how he can give her water that will make her content-that can save her and give her eternal life. He then tells her all about her own life and how she needs him. She right away realizes that she needs this "water" and believes and brings others to hear Jesus as well. I think its crazy how she believes right away and I find a lot of times in the bible where people just drop everything to follow God and I wonder how they can have such a strong faith- but it's cool!

Hey ,, sorry im late !!!! i was really sick on saturday .

John 3:36

"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life , but the wrath of God abides on him."

This is a very confusing passage. It is saying that if you believe in Jesus , you get to go to heaven , but it is also saying that if you dont obey Jesus you wont get to go to heaven. So its not just believing , even the demons believe in Jesus , but only true believers believe in him and obey him . Now , nobody is perfect , " except Jesus " , so dont think " oh no ! i forgot , jesus sais im not supposed to do this , and i did it anyway . now i wont get to go to heaven ." Thats not true , everyone messes up , but if you believe in him and try to obey him all the time , you will go to heaven

Just a child

John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

I once memorized this chapter, but despite that, every time I read it I learn something new. The sentence above is at the heart of something God has been showing me for the last three years. It is this: despite how we receive Him, it is God that saves. There is some part in me that has always felt that I played an important role in leading people to salvation and rebirth. But like John is saying, birth into God's family has nothing to do with my will or decision. It is something God does in people. This became very real to me two weeks ago while I was helping with a youth retreat for another church. I got the chance to watch two wonderful eleven year old guys be reborn into the family of God. As it happened, I finally saw that I am merely a child of God myself. It is God that does the birthing and doctoring and life giving. Even more spectacular is that once the birthing process begins, it will finish. The things that God begins in us, He will see to completion. Today I rejoiced in being a child of God.

Romans:31-3

At first they are saying that God gave us his only son. Then after this it asks lots of rhetorical questions. But my favorite verses were 35-39 basically it is saying that nothing in the universe can separate us from the love of God. And i don't get what Paul is talking about in verses 1-3.

New and exciting times!

Hello All!

It has been awesome reading for the last 31 days with you guys. I believe we are beginning to see the power of scripture unfold. Today is the last day of our original goal. That is a sweet accomplishment. I hope we have started some accountability and encouragement here that will continue for a long time.

There are a three things I want to encourage us all in as we move into the next round of blogging.

First, I want us all to be in the Word every day. Before you come to the blog to post or even just read, spend personal time in the Word. Talk to God about what He is saying before you talk to us. Spending time with the Lord is the primary goal.

Second, continue to encourage each other with comments. You have all been great about affirming each other. I think the next step is to start making comments on what you learned from the scriptures even on days where someone else is posting. Instead of just "that was great," perhaps posting "I love that verse 2 stuck out to you. I feel it may also be saying that..."

Third, let's start bringing others in. It would be great to have two people posting every day. It would be a cool way for you to hold each other accountable. "Did you post today yet?" "Have you been reading every day?" John, get ready. I am going to start posting on Saturdays with you. Expect to hear those questions from me.

We are going to change the format of our posts a bit. We are going to start reading through books of the Bible. I have elected John to be the first book because I feel we should start in the gospels. Together, we will all read a chapter a day from John. Then, on our respective days, we will post on the verse that spoke to us the most. Just focus on one verse, what it says, and how it applies to your life. In the title, go ahead and give it a real title instead of just the verse. If this is confusing, check out my post tomorrow and perhaps it will make more sense.

I love you all and I hope this blog is an encouragement to you.

Ephesians 6:13-20 (Wednesday)

These verses talk about how the devil has his evil schemes to try to hurt us, and we can’t fight him on our own. We need to use God and apply his weapons (truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation) to defend ourselves from the evil. At the same time, we need to pray when we are fighting off evil.

Ephesians 2:1-10

so this verse is cool because it tells us that even when we didn't believe God loved us and hooked us up with the best gift he could eternal life. but later it reminds us that the reason we are saved has nothing to do with us and I'm not going to lie that's kinda hard for me because i have come to realize i am a pretty prideful guy so that's hard for me to admit. i also think its cool because it says Christ seated us with him in his heavenly realm and i like that because i get this picture in my head of a big part and everyone there just gets to chill with God.

Romans 12:9-21

In these verses God is saying that do evil, and not to rush do do evil, but to cling to good, and don't lose spiritual fire for serving the Lord. What he means by this is that no matter what, we should never stop loving others and serving for God, and he also says that we should not curse/insult eachother (guys have problems with this alot, or thats what my experiance tells me) and when he says live in harmony with one another, he doesnt mean doing what the world does, but to have peace between the world and God so they can listen to what we have to say. He also says we should be ready to talk to people who seem lower in society, like the homeless, and do not give evil for evil, but is someone wrongs you, still love them. And the last thing he says is to not take revenge, cause thats my job, and what he means by saying"and in doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head", it doesnt acctually mean you will put burning coals on his head, but you being kind to him, even though they are mean to you, if it were me, i would be confused, and wonder why he is doing this, so giving you an oppertunity to spread the word of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 (sunday)

Sorry i didnt get this done yesterday. well theres not much to say about this one it is mostly telling us that God made us to live for him and if he has done all these things for us then we need to at least try and obey his commands and try to live holy lives. It focuses especially on being sexually pure which can be hard to do with how society wants you to view that stuff. I know its hard for me sometimes just with all the stuff that goes on in my head sometimes.

Proverbs 3:5-7

This verse is basicly saying that we need to trust God to tell us what is right and wrong. Don't try to figure out what is right and wrong on your own let God do it for you. Only God truly knows what is right for you.

How awesome is that I wrote it in code.

Matthew 6:25-34

These verses talk about how there is more to life than food, water, and clothes. Don't worry about missing out on your everyday concerns because they will be met by God, and start focusing your entire attention to what God is doing right now in your life. Don't worry about what will or won't happen tomorrow because God will be there for you and he will help you get through anything that happens. These verses are pretty freakin awesome cause they made me realize that I was focusing too much on other parts of my life that I really didn't need to get so worked up about and they made me start focusing my life more on God.

Philippians 3, 7-11

So this awesome verse talks about how the most valuable thing in life is nothing that we can physically touch, hear....etc. The most valuable thing that this verse talks about is excepting Jesus as your Lord and savior. To go everything else is crap and will be look at as crap. The dude (couldent find the name of the awesome guy that wrote this book of the bible) is saying that to him the only thing valuable is knowing Jesus and being in Gods good graces.

Acts 17:22-34

In acts 17, Paul is speaking to the atheneans, and when he says "i know you are very religious" he means they worship many gods. While Paul was looking at the idols, he saw an idol marked "the unknown God" , his God was the true God, and Paul came to Athens to make this unknown God known. Then he basicly goes into detail about God's personality, and how to worship him and love him. And when he came to the part about Jesus raising from the dead some scoffed, or laughed, at him, and didnt believe, but some wanted to know more.

Matthew 6:1-15

these verses are talking about how we are not the ones who should recive the glory for our good deads. when we do something that we believe God would want us to do we should not go brag about it to others or when we spend time with God and pray, we should not go brag about that either. I can relate to this because in almost everything i do well, whether its helping someone out, getting good grades, or even spending time with god, i feel proud and sometimes i find myself bragging. god tells us it is better to keep our good deeds a secret because he knows our actions and he will reward us when he thinks we should be rewarded. God is the only one who needs to know because the point of taking part in good deads is not to be able to boast about them.

hebrews 12:1-3

So this verse is telling us that we need to set a example for everyone around us by not getting tangled in the sin of the world and by living for Jesus because without him we would have no Faith or even be hear. it then tels us that when we are struggling we should think of Jesus and what he had to go threw to help us. i like this verse because i have read it so many times before but i have never tried to really understand it and now that i have i realized that it really paints a picture of how we as Christan's should live.

2 Timothy 1:1-10

I think these verses are saying that we need to get involved, follow the rules, work hard, and reflect. I guess I could apply that in my school. Srry I took so long, I was doing school all day long. I am probably wrong.

Philippians 4:6-13

I love this passage. I believe it explains how believers should set themselves apart from the world around them. When we live this out around the people in our classes/work, they notice it and want it. At the beginning, it says that we should not worry but instead ask God to deliver us from whatever we are worried about. This could be confused to mean that we should ask God to get us out of the bad situation so that there is nothing left to worry about. But then in verses 11 and 12, Paul sheds light by explaining that he has learned to be content with any situation. What I think verse 6 is really talking about is praying that God would make us strong and content in our present situation, not that He would take us out of whatever we are worried about. He follows through in verse 13 which is also often misunderstood. Paul can do anything with God's strength. Meaning, God makes Paul strong enough to be content in any situation. That is real strength.

The situations that I worry most about are failure and mediocrity. Sometimes, I worry that I will not make it as an entrepreneur. More than that, I worry that my ministry will not change the world. It would be very hard for me to hand either of those situations over to God with thanksgiving and be strong enough to truly be content in my failure. I want to better understand that my accomplishments have nothing to do with my value.

hey what about this for our small group picture ???

Just kidding !!! but it is a funny picture !!!

Titus 2, 11-14

First off, my bad for not posting yesterday.

Titus 2 is telling to live like God. To be Christlike in all we do. It tells us to not give into immoral things. God tells us how Jesus took our beating for us so that we wouldn't have to suffer in hell and be able to go spend eternity with God.
God encourages us to be eager to do the right thing and not the wrong thing which is simple but hard to follow command. But we should still try, and then fail and then try again because thats what God expects us to do.

2 Corinthians 5:11-21

Hey, at the beginning, it starts out saying how plain our lives and consciences are to God, and we aren't trying to commend ourselves with glory, but God, or that should be our goal. Then it goes on to say that no matter what we do, God's love compels us to do it, but do not miss read that and start using that as an excuse to do evil. Then it says we should no longer live for ourselves, selfishly, but for God, the one who died for us, and instead of judging others from a worldly view, but no longer judge people at all. At the end it talks about God reconciling us to him even though we sinned, and God didnt count that against us, so we should become Christ's ambassadors As if God were going to speak through us. And the last few verses, Paul is pleading for the corinthians to be reconciled to Christ.

Ive got saturday

Hey guys , sorry its taken so long , my computer crashed and i couldnt log on. So yah , ive got saturday , and i know its a little late , but this was 2 days ago reading.
PAY ATTENTION !!! THIS IS WHAT IT SAYS !!!

My first verse was colossians 1:13 , and it is baisically saying that jesus save us from hell , and instead we get to go to heaven . This applys to my life , because jesus saved me from hell , and instead , i get to go to heaven.

My second verse was ephesians 2 1-10
These verses are saying , that we used to sin and do ungodly things , But since god is mercifull , he rescued us , he raises us up to heaven with him. This hard to apply to my life , because i have been a christian from a very early age , but i do have friends , that before they came to be christians said and did things that are not godly , but have since become christians , and have repented of those sins.
YAH , SO IM DONE FOR TODAY SEE YALL ON WEDNESDAY
Did yall like the colors ???????

Psalm 37

This is Josiah and Isaac, and we did Psalm 37. Theses verses are mainly about two types of people: people who have faith in god, and those who don't. God says that he will always be with those who believe in him and try to live the way he wants by making wise choices, it also says that those who don't have faith in God will eventually perish. these verses also stress how even though it may seeem like people who do not have faith in God are succeding in life, they will eventually "be cut off" it actually says. So the moral of the story is do not envy those who are rich or may seem to have more than you, for faith is more important than any worldly possesions.

Nehemiah 9:5-8

so this verse is mostly about some guys that are all like he prays the lord he deserves it, blessed be his name let everybody lift it up it.then they give reasons why then later it says god made a promise he would give his descendants a lot of land and he is god so he keeps his promise because he is awesome. i read this verse a week ago and i couldn't get its meaning and i still haven't so if you understand pleas help me out.

Psalm 63:6-8

This verse is awesome because it tells us that god has our back. When things go wrong in our lives we always know God is watching over us. I like this verse because it reassures us that God is watching over us and that he cares about us.

Hebrews 11:1-28

What I think is most interesting about this section is the part that is not actually in this section. Verse 39 of this chapter explains that even though everyone listed here received approval (in the form of blessing) from God, none of them received the real promise which is Christ. Today, we have the chance to meet with God intimately in a way that Cain and Abel and Enoch and Noah and Abraham and Issac and Jacob and Sarah and Joseph and Moses and ... never could. The majority of the bible is about people who lived life hoping to have something that we have today, an intimate relationship with God through faith. Faith was a way of living life for them and not just a belief. It is easy to see by the way they lived for God.

All of the men and women of the old testament went through impossible trials in order to win God's approval so that their faith would lead them to salvation. Yet, they never saw it because the promise of salvation was waiting on Jesus. I should have a faith much stronger than any of those men because I experience the promise daily through the Spirit and scripture. I pray that God will give me a faith the size of His grace. I owe that much faith for the promise I have experienced.

Check out the rest of this chapter. It is powerful.

Ephesians 5 1-21

This passage is pretty much saying that we should stay away from all impurities as a child of God.
God tells us to imitate him in all we do, which is really impossible but we can always try, and fail, and then try again.
This passage talks about how no matter how cool you are in the world, it still wont get you to heaven. you still have to trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior to get to heaven.
It tells us that we should not be a bunch of idiots in life but we should be smart and make sure we arnt living as just people in the world but as God's children.
The passage tells us we should praise the Lord in all we do and sing songs of joy to the Lord.

I hope this made sense

Matthew 7

Hey, there are five differant sections in this passage so i'll talk about them individually. The first part of this passage is about judging people, and how you can see alittle sin in someone else's life, but there is far more sin in your own life that you choose to disregard. And the standard with which you judge other peopel, God will judge you bu\y the same standard, and before you judge other people, think about how perfect you are, or imperfect you are, to put things into perspective.

The second section is about asking God about things in your life. It basicly says don't be afraid to ask God anything, for he is our father, and is willing to give us anything we ask for. At the end it also startes that you should do unto others as you would have others do unto you, which i struggle with with my little brother, and i'm sure most other people do, cause its human nature.

The third section, though short, talks about the two paths we can take in life. There is the wide path that leads to distruction, and the narrow path, which leads to life, the wide path is more commonly taken, for is it easier, and less work, but the narrow path requires hard work, disapline, and faith. It doesn't say there is a third path, no middle ground, so you are either on the narrow path or the wide path, this scares me, for i don't always know which path i'm on.

The fourth section is talking about differant trees and their fruit. It says that a bad treecan only produce bad fruit, but a good tree can only produce good fruit. It is basicly the same as the two paths, you are either one or the other.

In the last section, once again there are two groups, the group that listens to God, and the group that doesn't. The group that doesnt listen to God is destroid in the end, while the Followers live.
