This passage is pretty much saying that we should stay away from all impurities as a child of God.
God tells us to imitate him in all we do, which is really impossible but we can always try, and fail, and then try again.
This passage talks about how no matter how cool you are in the world, it still wont get you to heaven. you still have to trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior to get to heaven.
It tells us that we should not be a bunch of idiots in life but we should be smart and make sure we arnt living as just people in the world but as God's children.
The passage tells us we should praise the Lord in all we do and sing songs of joy to the Lord.
I hope this made sense

Ben, great summary. I would love to hear how this chapter speaks to your life. I find it pretty intense. Verse 4 of this passage always nails me. I like to joke around and coarse jesting tends to be the easiest laugh to get. I am going to be hanging with a lot of my old friends from high school and when I hang out with them the conversation usually goes south. I plan to be light this weekend and I am hoping that it does not make me lame or hard to connect with.
