24I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
I believe that Jesus is constantly calling us to death. It would be one thing if Jesus had been saying this and then lived a long happy life. But that is not how it played out. He said this and then he lived it in literal death. That is how he produced life in us. By planting the seed of the gospel, the seed of his death.
I have seen in my life that the places where I am willing to die to myself and place Christ above me are the places where God works most powerfully. That is when God produces seeds in my life. Recently, I have seen that most in learning to listen. For a long time, my pride would make me talk when I should just listen. I have been slowly killing off that pride and I am beginning to see the fruit from it.
